Let the carbo-loading commence

With Simon off cuddling Buddhas in Japan for a couple of weeks it falls to me to give a little update on our marathon progress - a daunting task for someone without a first in English lit I can assure you, but hopefully my GCSE C grade will get me through.

This week I have been mostly eating ... carbs. I've heard about good carbs and bad carbs, but I have a no-discrimination policy and am welcoming stodge of every creed, colour and flavour into my life. This from someone who previously thought bread was the devil (blame Atkins) is quite something! Apparently its common to gain weight during marathon training and now I see why. And with the gov adding 20% tax onto all baked goods (see, I can do serious too) now is the time to binge!!!

With the diet side of things covered Dad and I are trying to fit in our final long-runs before 'tapering' (I am interpreting this as 2 weeks of duvet days, we don't want to get worn out now) before the big day itself. I managed a 15 miler through the idylls of Lewisham and beyond and Dad has continued to merrily skip through the Austen-like scenery of Wanstrow. Jealous much, me!?

On the fundraising side of things, a big THANKYOU to everyone that has donated so far. Every penny counts and we have a big target to achieve! Wonderful Wanstrow village got involved in a typically and brilliantly random Bavarian night in the village hall - I wonder how many themes they can come up with around booze?? Here is some photo evidence (although what it proves im not sure)

With kind thanks to Geoff Andrews for helping Voice.
From the Auction and Pledges for the Race Day we anticipate over £100 will come from the Bavarian night.
Better go before I go mad with all this blogging power.
Muchos love.

  1. Hi Rosie,
Liked the blog...not bad for a Grade C GCSE...obviously inherited your Dad's sense of humour.More alcohol themes lined up in the village...barn dance in village hall on the 21st April..but that date sounds familiar for some reason or other..might not see you there.
    Geoff
