Not that Dad and I could ever be called pessimists (I was once described as relentlessly enthusiastic and Dad is definitely the glass-half-full type), but I think we surprised even ourselves last weekend with a final long run of 21 MILES! You may share our amazement further when you hear that the previous week Dad failed his boyhood Scouting promise to 'be prepared' and only managed 6 miles of what was meant to be a 15 mile slog. He puts this down to 'strenuous lawn-mowing and lack of bananas' - make of this what you will. With such an unlikely precursor to our last joint training run, I can only imagine that it was the five-course 'Spring Supper' we had at The Pub the night before that gave us some extra zing in our stride, thanks Daria! Whatever it is you put in the goat's cheese souffle, I want some more.
Being the whizz that he is, Dad has put together some stats and maps of our run on Sunday, see below. Also, click the link for embarrassing pictures of me in a live-action replay.
